Five Day Coaching Programme

Course Description

The LUHFT Professional Coaching Programme is a 5-day programme for staff who have a keen interest in coaching and mentoring and are looking to learn more about the theory and practical application in the workplace.

There is a large body of research evidence that shows the link between activities such as coaching and their impact on individual and organisational performance.

Deliberate role-modelling and coaching by leaders is well placed to help people work at this deeper level, to gain confidence in themselves and to draw out their knowledge and skills, all the while building relationships of trust and openness.

The LUHFT Professional Coaching Programme is a 5-day programme for staff who have a keen interest in coaching and mentoring and are looking to learn more about the theory and practical application in the workplace.

Those staff completing the programme will be expected to offer formal coaching support to a wider audience, i.e. coach staff that they don’t line manage.  They would be expected to keep a diary of their coaching activity and attend supervision sessions to reflect on their experience and access support from the supervision facilitator.

Having successfully completed the programme, you would become part of the LUHFT coaching network.  You will continue to be supported post course through group supervision sessions and by attending CPD sessions designed to enhance and deepen your understanding of coaching.  For our more active coaches, there is an option to become an accredited coach.

Intended Audience

This programme is suitable for all LUHFT colleagues. Being a good coach doesn’t depend on what band you are.  A good coach or mentor is someone who helps the coachee work through an issue in a structured way, acting as a sounding board for ideas and helps them look towards a solution or actions for the future.  They aren’t there to fix the problem for them.

Therefore we are looking for coaches who have a range of skills and qualities; the most obvious being:

  • Building and maintaining rapport
  • Active listening and summarising skills
  • Effective questioning skills
  • Encourage reflection in the client
  • Feedback skill
  • Maintaining objectivity and a professional distance
